Bioinspired one-pot fabrication of triple-layered Rh@Co@Pt-skin core-shell nanodendrites: A highly active and durable electrocatalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction

  • Abstract:Pt-based nanodentries (NDs) have received substantial interest in catalysis because of their superior catalytic features. Herein, triple-layered Rh@Co@Pt-skin core-shell NDs (Rh@Co@Pt-skin NDs) were obtained by successive co-reduction of the Rh, Co and Pt salts in oleylamine (OAm) with the assistance of creatinine and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC). The Rh@Co@Pt-skin NDs exhibited remarkable increase in the catalytic characters such as the more positive onset potential (E<inf>onset</inf>) and the greater mass activity (MA) towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) than commercial Pt/C, homemade PtCo nanoparticles (NPs), CoRh nanoflowers (NFs) and PtRh NDs. This work provides some novel insights for synthesis of advanced nanoassemblies as efficient and robust electrocatalysts in fuel cells.<br/> © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
