Study on the Technique of Fingerprint Images Enhancement Based on Fractional-Order Calculus

摘要:Fractional-order calculus is a generalization of the integer-order calculus. Its order can be arbitrary complex number. So the function of the integer-order calculus has been extended. Nowadays, FOC have been applied in many research fields as a new tool. In this paper, we introduce the Fractional-Order Calculus and its properties. Then based on the basic definition of FOC, the masking operator has been got, and it can apply fingerprint images. This masking operator can enhance the image quality according to the requirements. The results of experiments show that this method has a better filtering capability without destroying the useful information contained in the edges. At the same time, it makes up for the shortcomings of the traditional method which can not change the treatment effects continuously. In general, this method is a simple and effective way in image enhancement.
