Abstract:In the title compound, [CuCl2(C14H12N2)(H2O)], there are two molecules in the asymmetric unit; both Cu atoms are five-coordinate with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H center dot center dot center dot Cl and C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl hydrogen bonds. The packing is stabilized by pi-pi interactions between the phenanthroline ring systems.
