  • Abstract:In this work, TiOF2@SiO2 cubic-like core/shell nanoparticles was prepared using a simple two-step method. The cubic-like Ti-containing precursor is initially prepared via a template-free solvethermal method to provide a huge surface for the coating uniformly with the SiO2 by a next hydrolysis. Through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and element mapping, the surface morphology and structure was exhibited. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) can test the component, elements, as well as functional groups. And the ER effect at diverse electric field strengths is tested by a HAKKE rotating rheometer. According to the result, it can be concluded that the coating of SiO2 can decrease the leaking electric current density and increase the shear stress, which makes the special cubiclike TiOF2@SiO2 core/shell nanoparticles become a promising ER material.
