PREPARATION, CHARACTERIZATION AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF NANOFLUIDS

摘要:Nanofluids are fluids containing suspended solid nanoparticles. It is expected that the nanofluids will be the next generation of heat transfer fluids due to their unique thermal properties. The nanofluids may have potential applications in many important fields, such as micro-electronics, aerospace, transportation, and medicine, etc. In this chapter, a brief introduction of the background and concept of nanofluids is first presented, followed by reviewing the preparation, characterization and thermal properties of the nanofluids. In the preparation section, the stabilization mechanism of nanoparticles in liquids is described. Then several preparation methods are discussed. Emphasis is put on the stability of the nanofluids, which is influenced by the preparation methods and affects the properties of the nanofluids. Several typical characterization technologies of nanofluids are summarized in the characterization section. The thermal conductivity, convection, and boiling properties of nanofluids are depicted in the section of the thermal properties.
