Abstract:Supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) power systems have several advantageous features, including high energy conversion efficiency and compact size. The sCO2 compressor serves as the fundamental component of sCO2 power systems. However, there exists a potential risk of fluid condensation in compressors. To enhance the performance of sCO2 compressors by mitigating fluid condensation at the inlet, this paper explores the influence of inlet structure parameters on the performance and fluid condensation of compressors. The results show that the suitable working range of the wheel-diameter ratio is 0.59 to 0.69 when the compressor impeller hub diameter is 62.0 mm. The suitable working range of the wheel-diameter ratio decreases with the reduction of the hub diameter. Using the proposed design method, a prototype is designed with an isentropic efficiency of up to 85 % and a total pressure ratio of up to 2.848. The condensing volume in the prototype is 3.5 % under the nearchoking condition.
