- Abstract:The synthesis of 1,2/3,4-regulated BD/IP copolymers has been of importance due to its fascinating properties. In this study, we successfully synthesized such copolymers using an iron-based catalyst with high activity. The contents of BD/IP unit in the resulting PBIs were closely consistent with the [BD]/[IP] feeding ratios, allowing for modulation of the composition and properties of the PBIs. These novel elastic materials exhibit superior and adjustable mechanical properties, as well as excellent dynamic mechanical properties, making them promising for high-performance rubber materials. In particular, these materials have the potential to address the "devil triangle" of tires by simultaneously increasing wet-skid resistance and decreasing rolling resistance.
