摘要:An ideal bone repair material should have the features similar to that of natural bones more specifically considering the composition and microstructure. In this investigation, porous hydroxyapatite (HAp)/collagen composite with similar microstructure and composition as that of natural bones was produced from bovine bone. Meanwhile, the pure and natural HAp powders were also prepared from the obtained HAp/collagen composite by two different methods (alkali-heat-treatment and calcination). XRD and FTIR studies of HAp/collagen composite and alkaline-HAp powder confirmed that the HAp phase is carbonate-substituted HAp with a low crystallinity. The samples derived from bovine bone exhibited the major and trace elements of bone, whereas these elements were not found in the chemically synthesized HAp powder. In vitro cell tests indicate that both the HAp/collagen composite and the HAp powders obtained from bovine bone promoted the proliferation and adhesion of MC3T3-E1 cells. These results suggested that the HAp/collagen composite and the HAp powders derived from bovine bone could be used as bone repair materials.
