Abstract:Flowing lamellae in a converging-diverging duct captures the essential features of foam motion in porous media. In this paper, Surface Evolver was employed for the study of the flow behaviour of foam lamellae in a duct with varying cross-sections. Typical two-phase flow parameters, including lamellar shape variation process, lamella velocity and pressure difference along the duct, were investigated under different lamella numbers. It can be concluded that the lamellae accelerate and decelerate with periodically varying cross- sections, and the pressure of each bubble varies periodically as the section converges and diverges. The pressure fluctuations increase as the bubble number increases; however, the fluctuation cannot produce positive pressure drops along the duct.
