- Abstract:Novel AgCl nanotubes/BiOCl nanosheets composite was synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method. Chemical composition and structure were analyzed by XRD, HRTEM, SAED, EDS and XPS. Structure of 5%AgCl/BiOCl (proportion of Ag/Bi molar ratio is 5%) is characterized by large scale of AgCl nanotubes decorating along the boundaries of BiOCl nanosheets, which is first reported. The novel AgCl nanotubes have uniform diameter of 5–10 nm with a wall thickness of about 2 nm. DRS spectra indicate strong visible light response of AgCl/BiOCl composites. PL analyses prove higher separation efficiency and sustainable redox ability of 5%AgCl/BiOCl. Surface area measurements confirm the enlargement of specific surface area due to incorporation of hollow tubular AgCl. Adsorption capacity of 5%AgCl/BiOCl is improved to about 6 times of pure BiOCl and removal efficiency under visible light irradiation is enhanced to 10 times. Morphology of AgCl nanotubes leads a critical role on promoting adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance of AgCl/BiOCl.<br/> © 2018 Elsevier B.V.
