Preparation and characterization of nanostructured Fe-Al intermetallics

摘要:Fe-Al nanostructured intermetallics were prepared by two different methods. A hydrogen are plasma method was employed to evaporate Fe-28A-5Cr raw intermetallics into nanostructured particles. The shape of the particles, with B2 structure, is spherical and the average size is 40nm. B2-DO3 phase transformation of nanostructured Fe3Al was investigated after annealing for I h at 600degreesC. Mechanical alloying method was also employed. Nanostructured elementals Fe and Al were milled in a ball mill. The experiments show that Fe-Al intermetallics are formed after milling for 10h with ethanol as lubricant.
