Abstract:SnO<inf>2</inf> hollow microspheres have been synthesized by a hydrothermal method. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) were used to characterize such hollow microspheres. SEM image shows that SnO<inf>2</inf> microspheres with diameters of 0.5-1 μm are composed of SnO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles with about 15 nm in diameter. Some broken microspheres indicate the hollow spherical structure. XRD shows that SnO<inf>2</inf> hollow microspheres have tetragonal structure. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
