N,N '-Bis(4-pyridylformyl)piperazine

Abstract:In the title compound, C16H16N4O2, the piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation. The title molecule has a crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry with half the molecule constituting the asymmetric unit. Molecules of (I) are linked into a three-dimensional framework by weak C - H center dot center dot center dot O and C - H center dot center dot center dot N interactions. The packing is further stabilized by C - H center dot center dot center dot pi and pi-pi interactions.
